Teaching sequence
Aims
The purpose of this sequence is that the students learn / refresh their knowledge of European history. Ideally this sequence or part of it will march side by side -or a tiny step behind- the history lesson. This will serve a double purpose. In the first place, students will be really learning content through English, rather than using a topic with the sole purpose of drilling a language item. In doing so, students will become aware of the value of English as a tool to learn and communicate. They will, hopefully, genuinely acquire the language that sustains the said content.
Tasks
During the development of the present sequence the students will carry out the following tasks:
· To watch a video online and justify answers to a multiple choice quiz posted on the teacher´s blog.
· To google phrases given by the teacher in order to determine who they were said by and in what context.
· To make an online poster where children can publish biographical facts, inspiring words and remarkable deeds belonging to heroes in European history. (Students´ choice)
· To produce a timeline organizing the events on the online poster.
· To produce a video presentation describing the life of a hero in European history. ( Students´ choice)
Contents
· Use of Past simple tense to understand a variety of media connected to the topic.
